Celebrating our History
-
Franco-Sol Garderie et Centre de Ressources is a non-profit, charitable organization incorporated in 1988. It is governed by the Ministry of Education, Early Years Division and licensed under the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014. The organization was previously known as Garderie Scolaire Franco-Sol. The administration head office is located in Tecumseh, ON.
Its humble roots began at St. Antoine French Catholic School in Tecumseh, ON. A group of parents required options for child care before and after school and at the time none were available. Mary Bauer, an advocate for services for parents and a supporter of French language worked with the Conseil scolaire de district des écoles catholiques du Sud-Ouest (CSDÉCSO) and the City of Windsor and in the 1989-1990 school year, Franco-Sol Garderie et Centre de Ressources opened its doors to families. It was also during this time that many school boards recognized the need of incorporating child care into the school setting thus creating a foundation of learning that would continue with junior and senior kindergarten.
Celebrating over 35 years of providing high-quality Francophone child care to families across Windsor-Essex, Franco-Sol Garderie et Centre de Ressources is proudly governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and supported by a committed team, including the Executive Director, Managers, Administrative Staff, Supervisors, and Front-Line Educators. Operating eleven child care centres within CSC Providence schools, along with two EarlyON locations, and a satellite EarlyON location, Franco-Sol offers year-round, full- and part-time programs for children aged 0 months to 12 years.
Over the years the commitment, hard work and passion of our educators have supported the learning and care of thousands of children in Windsor-Essex. In collaboration with families, the staff have created an enriching curriculum based on How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years. The mission of providing families with exceptional child care in a francophone environment is at the heart of teaching and nurturing our youngest learners in the important developmental stages of life as well as incorporating an environment that ensures all children have a sense of belonging, their well-being is crucial, they are engaged and can express themselves.
Franco-Sol recognizes that all past board members, staff and families as well as current board members, staff, families, community partners and various levels of government have contributed to the success of Franco-Sol. Child care has changed over the years but what has not changed is the commitment of everyone involved at Franco-Sol to be the premier francophone child care provider in Windsor-Essex paving the way for exceptional leaders of tomorrow.
Franco-Sol looks to the future with a clear vision for continued growth, strengthened mentoring and coaching across the organization, eand a steadfast focus on compliance, accountability, and transparency. By leading through example and maintaining a deep commitment to families and the community, Franco-Sol remains dedicated to excellence in every aspect of its work.
